2017 Clinical Day is May 16

2017 Clinical DayRegister by May 8 for the 2017 Clinical Day: Emerging Strategies in Prevention vs. Harm Reduction & How Communities Can Benefit from Both. This all-day training geared for clinical staff and medical personnel will demonstrate the difference between prevention and harm reduction strategies as well as emerging trends. Presenters include Kevin Hines (Motivational Speaker & Wellness Advocate), Dorothy Chaney (CADCA), Holly Jones (OACBHA), Canton City Health Department, John Ellis, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, ICCS and Amber Wolfrom (ADAMHS Board of Hancock County). 2017 Leadership Breakfast is June 2

2017-Leadership-BreakfastRegister by May 26 for the 2017 Leadership Breakfast. Attendees will learn more about leadership during system changes as well as how another system has managed their own service transitions. In addition, hear about the new organizational strategic plan from StarkMHAR Executive Director, John Aller, and celebrate the winners of the 2017 HOPE Awards. W/R-May 24/25, 2017 from 8:30 PM-12:30 PM: Mental Health First Aid Training for Youth. This is an 8-hour public education program designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health, addiction or crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD) and eating disorders. 8.0 CEUs offered as well as 3-year certification.
